Hellllllloooooooooo Everyone[!]

I know I’ve been MIA for a while, but I promise you it’s been for good reason and I have been productive!

I've recently had the honour of being appointed Beauty Director at SouthAsianLife.com

Over the next little while (well hopefully long while) I'll be working with and coordinating shoots for other make-up artists, hair stylists, skincare specialist, you name it to bring you video's you'd like to see! These won't be your typical how-to videos, these will range from various tutorials, product reviews, behind the scenes at photoshoots, bridal trials, live fashion shows and lifestyle makeovers.

It’s everything you were all asking for and that I was planning to do – but now on a much larger platform then I could have ever imagined :)

My skintype: Normal/combonation, bit of oil in the tzone into the day
Let me just start off by saying, I have a TON of foundations for personal use from MAC to MUFE to Maybellene to Cover FX and more lol. Which one I use all just depends on my mood, what I’m looking for that morning and what I need it to do/how long my day will be.

I always moisturizer and let it set in for a few minutes before applying a foundation primer… if you’re oily make sure you use a mattifying primer.

Believe it or not, I totally forgot I even had this. It had been sitting in my makeup stash for a couple months now :$



 

First impressions:
- heavy bottle (but it’s frosted glass with gives it a luxurious feel)
- very liquidy at first (I thought it was going to be really sheer)
- has a bit of a fragrance

Impressions after application (7am):

- ou la la <3 very nice finish, semi matte, looks flawless
- good amount of coverage (with concealer around eye area)
- doesn’t feel thick or heavy at all
- could be a little bit more “yellow” tinted (I love being yellow LOL)
A little goes a long way!!, 1/4 of one pump overed half the back of my hand (applied with Sephora's "airbrush" foundation brush

 


Impressions by lunch time:
- three of my coworkers had commented how pretty I look today :)
- tad bit of shine in the nose but not enough to bother me or make me wipe it away
- a tad bit darker than this morning
- can still smell the fragrance a bit
- still looks natural :D

Impressions by 5pm (when I would usually need a touch up before I head elsewhere)

- kinda started to fade it seems, a bit more sheer
- Ok for if I was just hitting the mall but if I had to go out out somewhere, I’d definitely touch it up a bit to make it “fresher”

Overall: Love how it looks to start, perfectly natural, absolutely flawless still provides coverage but if you don’t like products with any sort of fragrance you definitely want to test it out first. I love how it feels on my skin A LOT better than my MAC foundations & my MUFE foundations. Weather it’s worth the price difference – depends on how daring I’m feeling that week! Still need to test it's "waterproof" claim because that's one thing I'm SUPER picky about - if it truly is, then it will DEFINITELY be on my "re-buy" list :)

What’s Love Neelu?

Where can I get it? When are the products being released? When can we get that eyeliner we fell in love with at the last event?

“Love, Neelu” a brand which features mineral cosmetics to cater those that love makeup, colour & the longitivity of it all but are also completely natural with little to no fillers, packed with nutrients and plant extracts that target the skin <3 Not to mention vegan friendly products as well!

What it also features:

-         A PRO line for those days where you need a little more - (hey, I’m a makeup artist – I NEED it to stay! Life’s all about balance)

-         Authentic Luxurious Mink Fur Lashes (cruelty free and at a fraction of the cost that you’ll find anywhere else)

-         Gourmet Skin Care (organic, high concentrations of plant & fruit extracts, effective)

It’s been a really long on-going process; working with manufactures in Italy, Australia and the US… testing the makeup, numerous gloss formulations. That’s been the fun part so far… There are a few I’m happy with, there’s a few that still need some work and there’s a few that people have already fallen in love with! <3

Foundations on the other hand (which I know a few of you were looking forward to the most) will be the months and months still to release. There’s a very specific custom formulation that needs to be just right before it’s out and it’s also the one that’s taking me the most amount of funding of course!

Packaging has been a HUGE headache – I have a vision in my mind and refuse to settle for anything less. Believe it or not, the packaging costs are higher than the product formulations in most cases (Ahhhh!) but I’ve been lucky to find a couple suppliers that have been willing to work with me, help source other alternatives and drop minimums with little to no price increases.

When I have a better update than that, I will deffinitly let you all know <3

What I will tell you though is the first products to be released will be:

-         Lipglosess

-         Three shades of lipsticks

-         Luxury Lashes

-         Very limited quantities of a very special Gourmet Skin Care Face Mask

-         Very Limited quantities of the highly anticipated pure mineral pencil eyeliner

Makeup Quiz! Part 1

1. When did you start putting on makeup?
o If that sticky dollarstore eye gel glitter and teal thick liner counts – I’d have to say grade 7! Where I got that idea, I don’t think I even want to know lol



2. How did you learn to put on makeup?
o Mainly self-taught, when I realized I had a passion for it I did a private course with Jannel of Sacha Cosmetics, then Sheridan for a couple smaller courses. After you know the basics it’s just a matter of looking at images, practicing and teaching yourself. I definitely want to take a couple months for advanced training now though and push myself past the box I’ve created around myself!

3. Favorite Brand?
o Cant pick one! I LOVE LOVE LOVE NARS <3 Their colours, textures, longitivity... amazing. Love Sacha because the yellow tones in foundations, Makeup Forever, some MAC and I’m working on developing and launching my own line and already I’m in love with some of the products – completely natural, vegan organic super smooth khol liner, Luxury Mink Lashes, and bronzer/body/highlight – perfection in a jar! 4. Do you like wearing foundation? If so, what's your color & favorite?



o You’d be shocked by my foundation collection LOL. I use to love it, love the finish but I’m really trying to cut back, switch to minerals and take care of my skin! When I go out – it’s a must. What do I use?

Did I stress that enough? I LOVE lashes so much I’m developing my own custom sets! Strip lashes, individuals require too much maintenance for me. One of my favorites right now are from my Luxury Lash Collection (bit of tweaking but I’m seriously in love) Super natural, light weight, fluffy ahhhh <3






7. Favorite eye shadow color?
o Oooooouuuuuuuuuuuu this is a hard one. How about pigmet instead? Mac Reflects on top of anything (the real ones, not bootleg) make any shadow look amazing!

Weekend Spotlight: Titika Activewear

Being on set with Titika and the family has ALWAYS been a favorite time for me <3 Everyone’s always to positive, genuine, fun to work with and always get a ton work heath tips!

As most of you know, I'm in the process of the final tricks and tweaks of development towards the launch of "Love, Neelu". Thank you so much for your support and input as well as your patience towards developing a product dedicated to its clients with passion and care.

As a make up artist, I'm aware of the wear and tear that the industry can have on our bodies. Without saying, the part that gets the brunt of the abuse is our skin. When contemplating whether to wear make up or not, we find our selves faced with the phrase: " We're damned if we do and we're damned if we dont."

Lets face it: the truth is, we'd all love to have flawless glowing skin, but what can we do to attain it naturally?
